We Accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Family smiling during a visit to Cornwall Dental Arts

Looking for a CDCP dentist in Cornwall? We're thrilled to confirm that Cornwall Dental Arts accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), helping ease financial barriers to oral health care for eligible Canadian residents. Our team is ready to help you achieve a healthier smile — and to help you understand exactly how your coverage works before any treatment begins.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

The CDCP is a Government of Canada program that helps cover the cost of dental care for eligible Canadian residents. To find out if you qualify, contact the CDCP call centre at 1-888-537-4342 or visit canada.ca/dental, where you can also see what coverage you're eligible for.

Who is eligible, and how do you enrol?

Eligible individuals can apply online through the Canada Revenue Agency's CDCP application page at Canada.ca/dental, through My Service Canada, or by phone at 1-833-537-4342 (TTY: 1-833-677-6262). Once enrolled, the welcome package you receive from Sun Life will include the date you can start seeing an oral health provider — appointments can only be scheduled on or after your coverage start date.

What we offer

Important things to know before your visit

  • The CDCP is not a free dental program.

Depending on your adjusted family net income, you may have a co-payment of up to 60%, and you may also have to pay costs the CDCP does not cover.

  • Not all dental services are covered.

Before starting any treatment, make sure you understand your dental care costs — we'll help you go through them.

  • Tell us you're using CDCP benefits.

Please let our team know when booking so we can verify your coverage and prepare accurate estimates.

Renewing your CDCP coverage

CDCP clients must renew their coverage every year to confirm they still meet the eligibility criteria. To renew: file your tax return (and your spouse's or common-law partner's, if applicable) and wait for your Notice of Assessment from the CRA, then submit your renewal application online at Canada.ca/dental, through My Service Canada, or by phone. You'll receive a confirmation letter from the Government of Canada outlining your eligibility, your new coverage start date, and any change to your co-payment level — please bring this letter to your next dental appointment.

Each benefit year, we need to verify your continued coverage and check whether your co-payment level has changed before providing services. Previously approved estimates or preauthorizations are not valid if your coverage has lapsed.

Common questions

FAQ

Does Cornwall Dental Arts accept CDCP patients?

Yes. We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan and welcome CDCP patients, including new patients. Just let us know you'll be using CDCP benefits when you book so we can verify your coverage before your visit.

Is dental care free under the CDCP?

No — the CDCP is not a free dental program. Depending on your adjusted family net income, you may have a co-payment of up to 60% of covered costs, and some services may not be covered by the plan at all. We'll make sure you understand your costs before any treatment starts.

How do I find out if I'm eligible for the CDCP?

Contact the CDCP call centre at 1-888-537-4342 or visit canada.ca/dental. Eligible individuals can apply online through the Canada Revenue Agency's application page.

When can I book my first CDCP appointment?

Appointments can only be scheduled on or after the coverage start date listed in the welcome package you receive from Sun Life after enrolling. Once you have that date, call us and we'll get you in.

Do I need to renew my CDCP coverage?

Yes — coverage must be renewed every year. You'll need to file your tax return, receive your Notice of Assessment, and submit a renewal application. Bring your government confirmation letter to your next appointment so we can verify your coverage and any co-payment changes.
